Our History

Columbus Composite Squadron, formerly Columbus Cadet Squadron, is a composite squadron in the Great Lakes Region of Civil Air Patrol.  The squadron has called General Beightler Armory on the north side of Columbus, Ohio home for more than 30 years.  Columbus Composite Squadron is represented by a membership that brings diverse experiences and backgrounds into the leadership development of its members.  The squadron currently has eight senior members on staff that were former cadets in Columbus Composite Squadron or other squadrons in the organization.  This group of seniors has over 120 years of combined experience in the program and have served in positions at the squadron, group, and wing levels of the program.

Columbus Composite Squadron currently supports both cadet programs (youth ages 12-21) and senior programs (adults age 18+).  The cadet program offers youth the opportunity to learn about leadership, aerospace, and fitness through hands-on activities, self-paced study and testing, and holding leadership roles within the squadron.  The cadet program also offers cadets the opportunity to participate in activities outside the home squadron through wing and national activity programs.

The Commanding Officer is Maj. Brent Snyder, CAP.
